Welcome to the Needham Young Girls Soccer League. We appreciate your daughter's participation and all of your help! Please help us further by reading the following information and paying attention to its requests.

Our Philosophy

We want to end the season with the girls happy about their participation, having developed soccer skills, met some new friends, developed a sense of team, and having received a lot of positive feedback. We will play games and celebrate winning, but will work to balance the teams so that everyone has a chance to play and contribute. We have no expectation of prior experience.

Coaching

Our coaches are volunteer parents of the girls who participate.  We encourage all parents to help coach, regardless of prior soccer experience.  Each team generally has three or four coaches, with one serving as the lead coach.

Practice Time

We will meet every Sunday during the season from 3:30 to 4:30 at Hillside School, 28 Glen Gary Road, Needham.

Equipment

We require every participant to have shin guards. Please also bring a bottle of water to each practice - we'll have a water break halfway through each practice. We recommend soccer socks, as they're high enough to cushion the shin guards. It's fine to use running shoes or cleats. We distribute T-shirts with team colors during our first practice.

Parking

Please park in the UPPER parking lot, NOT near the playground equipment.

Communications

Please try to communicate with us via e-mail.  Our e-mail address is: info@nygsl.org.

Inclement Weather Policy

We will post that information on this website by noon on Sunday if we need to cancel the games due to weather or field conditions. If the weather has been nice please assume that the games are on.  However, according to Needham Park and Recreation policy, we can't play if there is standing water on the field even if the weather is perfect.

Special Thanks

Waldron H. Rand & Company, P.C. Certified Public Accountants have been very generous in providing accounting services to the NYGSL.  The regulations for non-profit sports leagues have gotten very complicated, and we would like to acknowledge their assistance.

Thanks for participating. Keep the suggestions coming in!!
