Welcome to the Needham Young Girls Soccer League!
The Needham
Young Girls' Soccer League is for 1st and 2nd grade girls in Needham,
Massachusetts. Our goal is for every girl to have
fun and develop a sense of self-confidence while playing soccer.
Coaches are encouraged to provide positive feedback to players of all
ability throughout practice and game time. Teams are balanced among ages and
experience levels.

We are

exciting news about the 1st and 2nd grade soccer
programs
in Needham!
Needham
Young
Girls Soccer League (NYGSL) is merging with Needham Soccer Club (NSC)
to
provide a unified 1st and 2nd grade soccer
program. St. Bart's recently made the
decision to
discontinue their program after the spring 2011 season, so it made
sense to
reevaluate how to manage 1st and 2nd grade soccer
moving
forward.
The
1st
and 2nd grade program will be led by the NYGSL board, and
combine
the best features of the NYGSL and St. Bart’s leagues. Our goal is to maintain a fun and welcoming
environment for all players, while offering additional development
opportunities for those players who are interested.
Registration
Registration
for Fall 2011 is now open online at http://www.needhamsoccer.com/ through
June 15 for 1st and 2nd
graders:
- For first
time registration, create a family account
- Player registration with family
account
- Coach registration as individual
The
cost for both the fall and
spring seasons is $110, and includes a uniform shirt.
Family discounts are available for those
registering multiple children in NSC, and scholarships are available
for those
in need.
Spring
2011 Schedule
The Spring
2011 season will run from April 10, 2011 through
June 19, 2011. There will be no game on May 22 due to Hillside
Spring Fling.
All
games will be held on Sunday afternoons. In order to accept all
registrations this season we are splitting the schedule into two
sessions. Some weeks players will be in session 1, and other
weeks players will be in session 2. Details are posted on the Schedule
tab.
Session 1: 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm
Session 2: 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Teams
will meet Sunday afternoon at the
Hillside School in Needham. Each
week,
teams are assigned to a
field and to a team to play for that week's game. The first 30 minutes
are designated as warm-up and practice time, while second 30 minutes
are
designated as game time. A whistle will be blown to
indicate the start and stop times for games. Team coaches will keep
track of the play and break times for their individual games.
